Program Levels and Age Requirements (click on the certification level for more information)
PLAYer (minimum age 7)
Introduces playing the game of golf with special emphasis on learning golf and The First Tee Code of Conduct, appreciating the rules and etiquette of the game and developing a game plan for golf and life.
Par (minimum age 9)
Focuses on interpersonal communication and self-management skills.
Birdie (minimum age 11)
Emphasizes goal setting.
Eagle (minimum age 13)
Emphasizes resilience skills, conflict resolution and planning for the future.
Ace (minimum age 14 & in high school)
Once a young person has progressed through all program levels, he/she can become Ace-certified, focusing on setting goals for golf, career education, and giving back to the community.
How Do I know If My Child Can Certify?
- Must complete three sessions at their current certification level.
- Must meet age requirements for the next level (see above).
*If you are certifying at the Par, Birdie, or Eagle levels you MUST bring scorecard(s) from recent golf rounds. Refer to quick glance guide below for me details.
Par: One 9-hole round scorecard with a score not exceeding 72 strokes.
Birdie: Five 9-hole round scorecards with no score exceeding 63 strokes.
Eagle: Ten 18-hole rounds with no score exceeding 108 strokes.
